Dainty Foods is proud to announce a major milestone in our continued growth journey.
Over the past five years, Les Aliments Dainty Foods Inc., a subsidiary of Marbour Group, has experienced significant expansion in Canada — doubling our local workforce, leasing a new warehouse and investing more than $28 million into new production lines for retort capacity, automation and upgrades to our Windsor Ontario facility. These strategic investments have strengthened our Canadian operations and positioned us for long-term North American growth.
Today, we are building on that momentum.
Dainty Foods has acquired a 250,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility in Batavia, Ohio, establishing Dainty USA LLC and marking our official expansion into the U.S. grocery market.
The initial investment of US$85 million — increasing to a total of US$150 million over five years — will introduce advanced retort pouch, cup, and bowl production to the US market. Once fully operational, the facility will have capacity to produce up to 250 million units annually. The site will leverage world-class automation and logistics infrastructure and is expected to create approximately 240 jobs in the region.
As a Canadian, family-rooted company with more than 140 years of history, we have built our reputation on quality rice products, innovation, and trusted brands like Dainty and TimeWise. The expansion enhances our overall North American supply chain, increases our production flexibility, and enables us to better serve customers across both Canada and the United States. Our Windsor facility will continue to evolve and innovate, proudly serving Canadian customers while playing a critical role in supporting our expanded North American operations.
“This investment marks a transformative milestone in Dainty’s growth strategy,” said James Maitland, CEO of Les Aliments Dainty Foods Inc. “Over the last five years, we have made significant investments in Windsor to modernize and grow our operations. Establishing Dainty USA LLC builds on that strong foundation — expanding our capacity, strengthening our North American supply chain, and allowing us to deliver innovative meal solutions to more consumers across the continent. We’re excited to invest in the Batavia community and continue growing from our roots in Canada.”
Phase One of the Batavia facility is scheduled to be operational in Q1 2027.
