Quick Black Forest cake

A quick and easy black forest cake – you could make 2 cakes for a double decker!

Ingredients

  • 1 package Dainty Chocolate Cake Mix
  • 2 large Eggs
  • ½ cup/125ml Whole Milk
  • ½ cup/125ml Vegetable Oil or Canola Oil
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • ½ cup Hot Water
  • 1 cup/250ml Cherry Pie Filling or Cherry Jam
  • 2 cups Whipped Cream
  • 3 tbsp Chocolate Shavings or Chocolate Sprinkles
  • Maraschino Cherries to garnish

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 350F/180C and line an 8" round cake pan with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the Dainty Gluten Free Chocolate Cake Mix, eggs, milk, oil, vanilla, and hot water. Mix until combined and place into an 8inch round cake pan. Bake according to package instructions. Cool completely on a wire rack.

Place the cake on a large serving plate. Spread the Whipped Cream over top. Then gently pour the cherry filling or jam on top of the cream, leaving a 1-2 inch border around.

Sprinkle the cake with the chocolate shavings or sprinkles and serve with a cherry on top.
