Add the Brown rice and broth into a medium saucepan.
Bring the brown rice to a boil, stir the rice to separate the grains, then reduce the heat to low. Cover your rice and simmer 35 minutes.
Note: Cooking brown rice is similar to cooking white rice, but generally takes longer due to the density of the grain. You can check the rice after 30 minutes to determine if you wish to continue cooking it another 5 minutes, some people prefer it a little less cooked.
Once the liquid is absorbed, remove the pan from the heat, add the butter, salt and pepper. Cover again and let it sit for 5 minutes.
Fluff the rice with a fork and serve immediately. It will stay warm covered for a good 15-20 minutes if you are waiting for other meal components to cook.
