This long and wild rice recipe will give you delicious, chewy rice with a nutty, smoky flavour. It goes really well with turkey or any fish dish. This nutritious rice can also be served with greens and salads or used in soups to add some texture and body.
In a medium-sized saucepan, with a lid that’s tight-fitting, heat the water, or broth, until it boils.
Add Long & Wild Rice Blend and salt.
Stir once.
Cover with a lid and reduce heat to low.
Simmer for 20 minutes (without lifting the lid or stirring!). If you see that the grains have burst open at the seams (or butterflied), it means it is done. It should be tender but still have a slight resistance when you bite into it, be well-rounded and plump.
Fluff gently with a fork and add the seasoning.
Tip: You can place a cloth or paper towel over the pot, and under the lid for 5-10 minutes to absorb any excess moisture for a drier rice result.
Note: Rinsing and soaking Dainty rice is not necessary as it is already cleaned. To learn more, read on our rice encyclopedia.
Tip: You can easily create this recipe in a rice cooker using the same water to rice ratio.
