For your busy weeknights, our Brown Basmati rice recipe is a perfect side for fish, curries and stir-fries. Easy to prepare and ready in less than 30 minutes, our Brown Basmati rice is a non-sticky wholegrain rice, and makes a great addition to any family meal.
Using a rice cooker is easy, results in perfect Brown Basmati rice, and allows you to ‘set it and forget it’ while you prep the rest of your meal.
Pour the water or broth into your rice cooker, then add the rice and give it a stir. You can also add the margarine or butter now if desired.
Place the cover on the cooker and press the button to cook. Let the rice cooker take care of the cooking while you prep the rest of your meal.
When the cooking is done, gently fluff the brown basmati with a fork. Add the butter if not done in step 1, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve the rice immediately or leave it warm until mealtime. You may also wish to unplug your rice cooker if the rice is to sit for a while to prevent it from drying out.
