Rice Cooker Turmeric Basmati rice with Shrimp

This turmeric basmati rice and shrimp recipe in your rice cooker is a perfect meal with a little side salad.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups / 375mL Dainty Basmati rice
  • 3 cups / 750mL water
  • 1 whole Cinnamon stick
  • 4 Cardamom pods
  • 4 whole Cloves
  • 1 Tbsp Cumin seeds
  • 1 Tbsp ground Turmeric
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 cup / 60g Butter
  • 1 1/4lbs (600g) fresh or thawed, cooked Shrimp (baby shrimp ideally!)
  • Garnish: fresh, chopped cilantro

Preparation

Place all the ingredients, except the Shrimp and cilantro garnish, into the rice cooker and cook.

Once the cooker has switched to 'warm' - fluff the rice gently and add the shrimp on top to warm. Replace the lid and let sit for 5 minutes.

Serve rice, topped with shrimp and garnish with cilantro.
